History

The Livingston Rednecks were born on Saturday, March 14, 1998, when Arriba Baseball Confederation Commissioner Jerry Dailey approved the transfer of the former Portland Pooh Bears franchise to a South Louisiana investor group headed by Warren Wool.  The group, which also owns the River City Renegades (American League) and the Key West Parrotheads (National League) in the Baton Rouge APBA Association (BRAA), immediately announced the relocation of the franchise from Portland, Oregon, to Denham Springs, Louisiana.
The Rednecks were assigned to the Forbes Division of the Clemente League of the ABC.  They will compete against the Louisiana Gamblers, the Baton Rouge Blues, the New Orleans Nationals, and the New York Knights beginning with the 1998-99 ABC season (1997 statistics).
The Rednecks will play their home games at the Redneck Roost a modern "Drive-In" ballpark located on Vincent Road just west of the intersection with South Range Avenue.  The team purchased the 66-acre development, formerly known as South Park, from the Livingston Parish Parks Commission for $3 million confederate.   Renovations have been completed and the complex now boasts a 22,000 seat grandstand and a distinctively Redneck 14,000 vehicle "drive-in" configuration from firstbase around the outfield to thirdbase.  Parking slips can accommodate 1,000 RVs and conversion vans and 13,000 full-size Pickup trucks, ATVs, tractors, and American cars.   Imports and buses are not permitted.
All Redneck games will be broadcast on WCSA TV (Channel 11) and WSKR (1210 AM).  Jeff Foxworthy and Skip Bertman will handle play-by-play; local former major league stars Ben McDonald and Rusty Staub will do color commentary and analysis.   Local favorite Jerry Jeff Walker will make obnoxious comments and weird noises.
