Giants Homepage

I started playing APBA in the mid 50's. The older brother of a friend had the game and he let us play. I was able to get my parents to buy me a game for Christmas 1958. It had the 1957 card set and it took me until 1961 to finish the replay of the 1957 season keeping all the stats by hand. I then bought the 1961 card set and started a replay of that season. I still haven't finished that replay. I lost interest in the game and put the set away with the replay some where in late July.

When I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, I took a job in Baltimore working for Procter & Gamble. Making soap was a critical skill and kept me out of the Army. That was in 1969, the height of the Oriole dynasty. At P&G there was a guy who had a draft face-to-face league. He talked me into joining and I have been in leagues ever since. Last year I was in three and this year it will be five.  After running the Danville Dynasty of the YCL for five years, I've given up the franchise to take over the Cooperstown Giants for the 2001 season.

On the personal side -- I was born in Milwaukee and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1969. Married with two daughters. The oldest is getting her Masters and is looking to teach English in Chicago. Our youngest daughter is a Massage Therapist in Port Charlotte, Fl. Her husband is the Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Texas Rangers. For something to do after breakfast I work as Operations Manager for Hilden America. We are owned by an English weaving company. Our main business is supplying cotton table linen to four and five star properties in the Western Hemisphere. Nancy, my wife of 31 years, has tolerated and come to enjoy my baseball habit.
