Warren Wool joined Bruce Harrell & Company in November of
1994 as Director of Technology Services. Prior to his association with the
firm, Mr. Wool spent twenty years in the practice of public accountancy with the
Baton Rouge CPA firm of L. A. Champagne & Co. and five years as the
President and Chief Executive Officer of The CMI Group, a computer systems
integration company engaged in nationwide computer networking sales and
consulting services for businesses and governments.
Warren earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Louisiana
State University in Baton Rouge in 1969. With the exception of a three-year tour
of duty in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict, he has practiced and been
active in public accounting since that time. During his tenure with L. A.
Champagne & Co., he served in various capacities in the audit department,
including Municipal and Governmental Audit Partner. He also served seven
years as Tax Services Partner and six years as Computer Services Partner.
Warren is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the
Louisiana Society of CPAs (LCPA). During his career, he has served on
and/or chaired numerous professional committees including the Governmental
Accounting and Auditing Committee, the Municipal Practice Review Committee, the
Taxation Committee, the Auditing and Accounting Conference Committee, the
Professional Development Committee, the Continuing Professional Education
Committee, the Computer Education Committee, the Microcomputer Conference
Committee, the Management of an Accounting Practice Committee, and the Business
& Industry Committee. He most recently served as a member of the LCPA Technology
Task Force.
During his service on the LCPA Governmental Accounting and Auditing
Committee, he participated in the authoring of the first Louisiana Municipal
Audit Guide. During the Reagan presidency, Warren served a four-year term
on the Fifth U.S. Congressional District Tax Advisory Committee. During
his five years on the LCPA Computer Education Committee, he organized and
chaired the first Louisiana Microcomputer Conference in 1988 and has
participated in several of the annual conferences since then. In 1991,
Warren was the Technology Advisor to the AICPA Task Force on Electronic
Publishing.
Warren has lectured extensively on various areas of taxation, auditing,
computer technology, and business office automation. He has spoken before LSU
Law Center conferences, civic and business groups, and professional accounting
seminars and conferences in Louisiana and across the United States. He
developed the course Introduction to Computer Accounting for Louisiana
State University and was the author of and instructor for the LCPA's courses Putting
Computer $$$ to Work in the CPA Firm and Living on the LAN.
Most recently, Warren was the "architect" and project coordinator of IDEAS2000
- a landmark information access system developed for the Tangipahoa Parish Clerk
of Court and the ClerkSearch e-Commerce system developed for the Livingston
Parish Clerk of Court.
Warren is a past advisory board member of the CPA Computer Report and
the Accountants Microcomputer News. He has been a contributing editor to
the Quantum PC Report for CPAs and the AICPA Information Technology
Newsletter. He is a past member of the Business Technology Association, the Networth,
Inc. Reseller Advisory Council, and the Novell Platinum Advisory Council.
Warren has also served on numerous boards and committees of community
organizations and associations including the YMCA and the Greater Baton Rouge
Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as an appointee to the Louisiana
Technology Policy Focus Group and the Baton Rouge Mayor-President's Task Force
on Computer Integration for Legal Agencies.
Warren currently serves as counsel for Technology Services to Bruce Harrell & Company. Technology services include consulting on, and training in, all
aspects of computer-related topics. These services are integrated with
"traditional" accounting services and administered through the firm's
Business Services Unit (BSU). Warren is the Managing Director of
Governmental Results Systems, LLC (GRS) - the management and technology consulting affiliate of Bruce
Harrell & Company.
